What do I talk about?

Just about anything to do with women and the media. Since writing books on women over 50, I specialize in women of a certain age. And how the media sees us, which I often accompany with images to illustrate the many faces that advertising, TV and the movies give us.

I talk about how far women have come and how much more we have to do. And what feminism has to do with our lives, including how we age.

Beyond that I lead panel discussions on the latest encouraging news for women about our bones and hearts, the necessity of girlfriends and the brave new things we get to do now that we’ve stopped being timid and worrying what the world thinks.

I talk about how far women have come and how much more we have to do.

Since leaving my newspaper job I’ve been giving a talk called “Are You Still Somebody” which has to do with how we identify with our job and how that changes. I speak about the “R” word – and how Boomers are tweaking retirement.

I’ve given talks around swimming pools, inside boutiques and in convention halls. I do book readings and lead writing workshops on how to tell your own story. I do “in conversation with” interviews on stage with authors, like Isabel Allende and Mollie Katzen.

Those are some ideas, but frankly I can talk about anything.
